At Sequoia Dog Sanctuary, we understand that the biggest hurdle for many rescues is the "Crisis Phase." When a dog comes off a high-kill euthanasia list or a critical field situation, they are often a medical and behavioral mystery.
We are here to be your bridge. Our long-term goal is to act as a reliable pipeline for rescue partners across the country. We do the difficult work on the front end so that you can focus on what you do best: finding forever homes.
What We Do (The Sequoia Standard)
We pull dogs from the most dire situations in Kern County and provide:
- Medical Stabilization: Managing urgent health needs, surgeries, and recovery.
- Decompression: Giving "red-listed" dogs the quiet space to move out of survival mode.
- Foundational Socialization: Working through fear and lack of exposure to turn "broken" dogs into confident companions.
"Turn-Key" Rescues
By the time a dog is ready to move from Sequoia to a partner rescue, they are "turn-key." They are medically cleared, behaviorally assessed, and ready for immediate placement into a foster or adoptive home.
