🌲 The Sequoia Mission Statement

To provide a permanent, dignified, and loving sanctuary for senior and special-needs dogs, while serving as a critical bridge for at-risk animals—stabilizing the vulnerable, advocating for the overlooked, and ensuring every dog’s quality of life is honored from their first rescue to their final day.

About Sequoia Dog Sanctuary

🛡️ About Sequoia: The "Heavy Lifting" of Rescue

Based in Kern County, CA, Sequoia Dog Sanctuary specializes in the 'heavy lifting' of the rescue world. Our facility is designed to act as a reliable, high-level pipeline for rescue partners. We don't just pull dogs from high-kill euthanasia lists and critical field situations—we transform them. Utilizing a deep background in veterinary medicine and behavior stabilization, we handle the crisis phase of rescue.

What we provide for our partners:

  • Medical Stabilization: Intensive care and recovery management.
  • Decompression: A safe environment to move from "survival mode" to "pet mode."
  • Foundational Socialization: Assessing and building the confidence needed for a successful transition.

Our Goal:

To ensure the dogs we send to our partners are "turn-key" and ready for foster or adoptive homes. We are actively seeking regular partners who can help us move these stabilized, healthy, and happy dogs into high-adoption areas.

Sequoia Sanctuary Pillars

  • 🏥 STABILIZE: Handling the medical and emotional trauma of high-kill shelters.
  • 🏡 SANCTUARY: A permanent home for those like Chai and Sal who need lifelong security.
  • 🤝 PARTNERSHIP: Acting as a bridge to get dogs out of Kern County and into loving homes.
